Simple Steps towards a more Spiritual Life

Posted on June 3, 2010 at 5:49 PM

There are simple steps we can take everyday to consciously live our goal of living a more spiritual life.

Step One: Spiritual Expansion. The spiritual journey is never complete while in the human form. This is an exciting journey that we take each and every day into the realm of spirit for there is a wealth of learning and experience that is abundantly available to feast on. We can have joy just in our journey, not the destination in our spiritual life. We can learn and experience something new each and every day for the rest of our lives and we still would not learn all there is to know of Spirit. Today, we may decide to take a class on transcendental meditation and next month begin our journey into Celtic Shamanism. That is the wonderful thing about the Spiritual life, you are free to do what you want and let it take you to where you intuition guides you. There is no right or wrong in experiencing Spirit, it is uniquely your journey!

Step Two: Let Go Of What is No Longer Useful. What works today, may not work tomorrow. And knowing when to release even the good things in life, is important. What has worked in the past may not work now, it is journey of discovering what is working for you in the moment, moment by moment. That is the beauty of opening into spiritual expansion, you know that you are free to change the rules if need be. You don’t have to do things, just because “That is always the way we have done it in this family!” You are free to make new principles for your life and these principles can change day to day to fit your needs. Living in Spirit is living in a fluid destiny that can take many roads and we have the full choice to change directions and drop any excess baggage that we no longer need.

Step Three: Personal Empowerment. Live by your own authority. Live by your truth and set the trail ablaze with your personal power. Your unique soul’s calling is your own and there is nothing that you cannot do when you fully embrace your personal power. You alone have the authority to fully direct your life and accomplish the goals that you have set for yourself. Living your truth is to live authentically, knowing the core being of yourself, though it may even go against the norm or what is considered normal for your family, friends, acquaintances or in your community. To live authentically can take great courage but it is the most freeing and self empowering thing you can do for yourself.

Step Four: Forgive Yourself. We all make mistakes and we all have done things that we have regretted. But it is important to give yourself the break that you may give others. It is time to fully forgive yourself for your past and all the regrets that you have. To forgive yourself is to love yourself and let the light of Spirit dwell within you. You release the darkness that can settle over you and subtlety eat away at your soul and self esteem. If you are in the wrong and want to make amends, then ask for forgiveness and then forgive yourself and move on. There is not a soul on earth who has not been where you have been. There is not a soul on earth who has not made a mistake at some time in their life. When we harshly judge ourselves or others, we only continue to hurt ourselves and the light, peace and love of the Divine gets crowded out of our hearts. Forgive yourself and know that in the highest sense, you are already forgiven.

Step Five: Follow Your Own Path. Sometimes it may be that we are expected to follow in someone’s else footsteps or follow someone else’s dream. I remember meeting a girl long ago,  her Father has planned what each of his children was going to do for professions in their life. I remember the heartbreak in this girl, for she wanted desperately to pursue her dream, yet she felt compelled to follow the dictates of what her father wanted her to do in life. For many of us, it may not be this extreme, but how many of us, in some way comprise our path in life? Follow your own path and listen to the still small voice that calls you to your passions. You were meant to follow your own song, your own rhythm, your own beat, and your own destiny. This is what the Divine wants for you and it is a most sacred thing to follow your own path.

Step Six.: Your Destiny is Fluid: Following your path doesn’t always mean the road is straight or that the time is linear in your destination. Your destiny is fluid, meaning there are forks, in the road, curves, bridges and detours that come along on your path, your destiny. It can be changing and it can be more than just one thing that you take on as your destiny. Basically, there are no limits to your destiny and it is not rigid or unyielding.

Step Seven: What have you been Avoiding? Take the steps to face what you have been avoiding. All of us has something that we avoid, procrastinate or put on the back burner in our lives. It is time to face the situations that are unpleasant and start working out the solutions and release the burdens from ourselves. Know the things that you can change and accept the things that you cannot change. Know that you can change your perception about a situation and control your reactions to a situation.

Step Eight: Make Choices that Build You Up. Do you say yes to something, because you want to be ‘nice’ or do something because you want to be perceived as a helpful person? Do you say yes, just to please others? Make choices daily that build you up. If you feel in your heart of hearts that you don’t want to do something that someone asked you to do, then don’t feel guilty not doing it! Many times, it is in our best interests to say no at times. We don’t have to feel like we have to say yes all the time and be the helpers just to please people. If you don’t feel up to going to the family function, then why not honor your feelings and not go? We often feel so compelled to act on other’s expectations that we don’t honor our own. Now, that is not to say that we don’t ever go to family functions, that isn’t the point here. The point is, that sometimes we feel that we can never say no to certain expectations to family or friends. Sometimes, you have an inner knowing that it is just not right time for you to be social or you are feeling that you just want to rest that weekend that a function was planned. You should most of all, honor your feelings. Make choices that build yourself up and if you find yourself wanting to help, then help, give freely of your time, love and assistance, but the point is, don’t feel compelled or made to feel guilt into doing things for others. Heart felt giving is the key to giving in a happy and joyous way and when you don’t feel that way and feel that you are giving because you “Have” do, or “expected to” or “to be Nice”, then it is not coming from the right state of mind and in this instance, it may be the right thing to say no at the time.

Step Nine: Recognize and Accept your Gifts. All of us, have gifts of the Spirit that has been bestowed upon us from the Divine. There is not a soul walking the earth who is not bestowed with some gift of the Spirit. So, what are you gifts? You have them as surely as your are breathing, the Divine created you to mirror the Divine’s image. The Divine takes joy when you express and honor your gifts and share them with the world. It is not conceit or arrogance, it is your natural birth right as a child of the Divine. Honor your gifts and you honor the Divine by recognizing them and sharing them with others. Take the time to come to know your gifts, to develop them and continue on this journey of self exploration. All have gifts of the Spirit, what are yours?

Step Ten: Recognize and Eliminate Destructive Patterns. Destructive patterns are any patterns that you choose that are not conducive to spiritual growth and expansion. Destructive patterns that block the light of love and leave you feeling less than loving towards yourself.

Step Eleven: How Comfortable Do you Feel In the World? Finding your place in the world can be hard and finding our comfort zones can be challenging. Know that you have a place in the world that no one else can fill. Sometimes this place is on stage, for some the place is backstage as the support team. It doesn’t matter, for your place is uniquely honored and uniquely needed. Sometimes the very things that make us uncomfortable are the needed lessons we need to learn, grow and expand. The uncomfortable feelings are always learning experiences that are there to teach us something about ourselves.

Step Twelve: Meaning brings Happiness. A search for happiness many times begins first with a search for meaning. When we find meaning in our lives, this has a lasting joyous effect. The meaning is the means to find happiness. Search for the meaning in your life. What is important to you? What causes are important to you? What heart connections do you make to certain causes, people, places, things, animals and other situations that speak to your heart? Here is where you find meaning, here is where you find your callings, here is where you find the lasting joyous mission of your life that can bring happiness. It can start with a very small thing, such as volunteering at the local animal shelter or homeless shelter. It is finding the important things that are meaningful to you that can bring happiness into your life.

Step Thirteen: The Recovery of your True Self. Sometimes we can drift through life and forget our “Real” selves or even a part of our true self that we ignore. It could be our spiritual and metaphysical pursuits that we easily ignore when it comes to everyday life.  A day goes into another and another as we go to work, pay the bills, shop for the household, make dinner, help with homework, bathe the kids, clean the house and before you know it, you are asleep without once during the day, taking the time to feed your Spirit. It happens to us all and before we know it, we can neglect a very important part of ourselves. Take the time to retrieve and remember your True Self and honor this truth and take the time to nurture it. It can be as simply saying a personal mantra, meditating for at least 10 minutes, taking meditating walk in nature, or reading something spiritual, lighting a candle, burning incense with spiritual intentions or whatever helps you to daily connect to the divine. Doing this in even small ways can help you to connect to your true self.

Step Fourteen: Honor your Inner Child. Sometimes it is okay to just play and be like a child. The inner child never leaves us and is an important part of our True Self. The inner child retains wisdom of simplicity, joy, laughter and playfulness. Honor your inner child and let it come out to play once in a while.

Step Fifteen: Release Guilt and Shame. As mentioned before, holding on to guilt and shame is not an activity that builds your self up and fosters self esteem. All of has fallen short at times and have made mistakes in the past. It is okay to fully forgive yourself and move on. Release all feelings of guilt and shame, it does nothing for the betterment of your soul.

Step Sixteen: Love all Of Yourself. Love all of yourself, even the darker parts. Love yourself even if you get angry at times. Love yourself even if you get depressed and unmotivated. Love yourself regardless to how you are expressing yourself at the time. Love your imperfections, for they are perfect teachers to you. Love all of yourself, the good, the bad, the ugly, the loving, the peaceful, the sadness, the morning breath, the pimples, the fat, the muscles, the all of you!

Step Seventeen: Make Conscious Choices. Sometimes we make choices in our daily life, without even thinking about them. It may be time to just be aware and ask yourself why you are choosing something.  Is it because it is based on someone else’s decision, or opinions? Is it because that is the way it has always been done? Make Conscious choices that are right for you.

Step Eighteen: Know the Difference between your Duty or Calling. We all have duties to fulfill and we must take responsibility for them and meet those that are imperative to the emotional, mental and physical health of not only us, but those that do depend on us. That being said, don’t forget to neglect to foster your calling. Your calling is that which speaks to your heart and ignites passion unlike anything else. It may be deep sea diving, it may be to swim with the dolphins, to work with inner city kids, or to create art. Whatever your calling is, follow it and if only small steps are taken toward your calling, it is at least a step in the direction of your heart’s desire. For the Divine wants you to follow your calling, it is your gift to give to the world and yourself.

Step Nineteen- Be You Without Permission. You are you, and there is no one on the face of the earth that has your smile, your laugh, your heart, your love, your song in your step, your embrace, and the very essence of who you are. So why not just be you and honor everything that you are! You are a child of the Divine, a spark of the Divine that is a light that shines like no other light. You are you and you don’t need permission or anyone else’s opinion on how to be you!

Step Twenty: What Matters Most? What matters most in your life? Sometimes we get caught up in comparing our lives with someone else. We may always be comparing ourselves and finding that we don’t measure up. We may find that some may seem to have more then us in many ways, but what we desire is what we pursue. There is nothing wrong with pursuing goals and bettering ourselves, but we have to stop and look at the reasons we are doing something. Is it because it is expected of us? Is it because you feel you need to keep up with the ‘Jones”? Are you in competition? Do you feel “less then” just because you may find yourself with “less” material items? Why are you pursuing a certain career? What matters to you most? That is what is important in your life. So if you decide to have a simple and minimalist life, that is perfectly fine, if you decide to have an opulent lifestyle, that is perfectly fine. The point is, do it for you, not for anyone else’s opinion, judgement or for someone to look from the outside to judge you life. Do what matters to you, for then you find a happiness and personal calling that keeps the passion of creativity going.  It is what matters to you most without losing your heart, love and the grace of the Divine in your pursuits. It is reconciling the spiritual with all that can be in your life for there is no limit to what you can create because you are made in perfect creation with the Divine mind and spirit.

Spirituality need not be complicated or arduous. Spirituality is simple in the most purest form. It is light, it is love and it is you. May you have abundant blessings!

Thought for the Day- Prayers to the Divine

Posted on May 28, 2010 at 5:27 PM

Prayers and Petitions to the Divine

A prayer in its simplest definition is merely a wish turned Divineward.

The Divine delights in meeting our small needs as well as our big ones, just as we parents delight in meeting the needs of our children. Your prayers and petitions are always heard, though the result of the manifestations may be not what we always expect. When we see the answers to our prayers and petitions it continues to build the relationship we have with the Divine and the heavenly messengers.  The Divine desires to have this free flowing open communication with us and takes joy in this sacred relationship as co creator in our lives. May you have the answers to your prayers and petitions and have abundant blessings!

Blessing to you and yours,

In light and love,

amy

A Tribute to Our Beloved Pets

Posted on May 20, 2010 at 9:56 PM

I wrote this poem in honor of our beloved pets that have passed unto the other side. Our pets have given so much to us and they are truly treasures of heavenly worth! I hope you enjoy this poem. Blessings and in light and love always, amy

A TRIBUTE TO OUR BELOVED PET

Your time on earth was only too short, but you came to bring

your love of tremendous worth.

Time is but an illusion on earth.  You are still here, free from

this matter of curse.

You have shed your skin of dense material.  You walk among us in your

garment of ethereal.

You  still love, You  still gives us comfort.  You are  happy and free walking with your ancestors now.

Yes, your time was short in the flesh, everything for a reason,

a time for every season, all of us allotted a certain number of breaths.

You return to where you never really left.  All of Life’s circle, repeated eternally until the final rest.

You are  in the arms of the great beloved in pure peace without worry.

You  will choose again where  you  go in the  next journey.

But, rest awhile our beloved pet, be free and happy in your hunting ground.

Your family on earth will meet with you again, sometime, somewhere in this eternal round.

With Love to our departed beloved pets.

Light and love prevails forever and always.

Posted on May 12, 2010 at 6:28 PM

I am so very grateful for the guides, angels and the light beings that are surrounding me at this time. Every once in awhile things and those of the darker or lower vibrations try to manipulate their workings and give challenges to us in the field of light working. You may find that this occasionally happens to you fellow light workers as well. I write this to remember that Nothing can prevail against a child of the Divine who commends his/her spirit into the hands of the Divine, The Great Spirit! By doing this the mind awakens from its sleep and remembers its Creator. All sense of separation disappears . There is now no confusion within  it's levels of the Holy Union because this union is one in the mind of the One and gone are perceived levels. And now because we see them as they are, we offer them acceptance of their truth so they can accept it for themselves. This is the healing.  I now refuse to believe in the darkness that comes and remember the truth of the light only and leave in peace and gratitude for this sacred truth. Today I again realize that nothing real can be threatened and nothing unreal exists. Herein lies the peace of the Divine forever and always.

Many blessings,

In love and light always,

amy

Tarot's Message- The Fool

Posted on March 1, 2010 at 5:59 PM

The Fool

As Springtime approaches and we turn toward the renewal energies of the spring equinox, the fool brings a message of new growth and new beginnings. The germinating seeds that lied underneath the soil of our lives will begin to shoot through and sprout. Here comes new adventures and new explorations! We may find ourselves in a new job, career or promotion. The possibilities are becoming abundant as the energy turn to renewal and growth. And what seems like loss at this time, may actually turn out to be a greater gain in the future. A preparation for something that will be for your overall greater good. Abundance and increase is gathering momentum during this time and there are opportunities ready to be plucked.

But the Fool warns us not  to be partaking of too much extravagance when times are good, remembering the ebb and flow of life and ride the tide with carefulness. The Fool reminds us to hold on to our inner child and look throughout life through the eyes from the both the sets of the adult and the child. It is the balance of knowing when to let go and have fun and knowing when to be serious. Embrace the renewal time and be open to the wondrous opportunities that are soon to abound!

Blessing to you

The Greater Plan

Posted on January 27, 2010 at 2:48 PM

Sometimes it takes weeks, months and most times years for some things to finally come into perspective in ones life. We often want quick fixes in our lives, we often want instant gratification whether this is in the relationship department, financial department, health and the many other departments of our lives. We want when we want it and we want it now! This is part of our very human nature and one of the very things we have come into this world to work on.

The thing is, we are often greatly frustrated because many things don’t seem to work out the way we want them to. We are forever and endlessly trying to swim against the current of life. There is a great plan to our journey. The journey we have agreed to take in the spiritual realm is exactly the journey we are currently on, but the human part of us in this incarnation thinks continuously it should be different. This is the quintessential spiritual conflict for us during our human incarnation. It is very difficult to accept that the difficulties we are facing in our current incarnation are the very things we have chosen to work with before we incarnated. Sometimes, we chose extremely difficult tasks, and our spiritual guides and guardians may have said to us, “Are you sure you want to take that on?” And we said while in our spiritual form,”Oh yes, I can handle that!” Forgetting how very difficult it can be in the human flesh to deal with these extremely hard issues. So we go ahead and jump in and take it on. Now, we are in the human flesh and saying the very thing we thought we wouldn’t say. “I can’t handle this!” “This is way too hard!”

The difference is the perspective on which we see our lives. While we were in the spiritual form, we were able to comprehend the far reaching effects of our issues and what we were to work on. This greater perspective in the spiritual realm allowed us to see a greater plan that was to enfold. When we incarnate into our human form we slowly begin to forget the memories our spiritual life and begin to struggle in the human world.  We take on our egos and this gets in the way of seeing with a spiritual eye. We may have decided to take on the issue of “depression” in the spiritual realm. We saw this as an opportunity to learn and experience what it feels like to go through this so we can empathize with others that are afflicted with this mental condition. So, we decide to incarnate with this affliction to learn, grow and experience this. In the Spirit realm, we know that we can handle this, we know we are forever connected to the divine, we know that all will be well if we have the trust, faith and remembrance of the divine. But when we incarnate, this gets forgotten. We come down into the flesh and begin to experience this extremely difficult task. We experience the deep despair, heartache and aching black hole that may seem like an endless void that will never end. We say, “I can’t go on, this is just too damn difficult!”  “Why me!” Yet, we chose this course to learn, grow, and empathize with others. We may have some karma to clear up, maybe in a past life, we were not compassionate towards others with mental conditions. We may have not believed the validity of them, we may have been hard hearted towards someone with this condition or we may have done worse.  I truly believe that all of us learn to walk in each others shoes and whether it is done in this life time, it is done in another life time. We choose to learn the different facets and situations of the human condition. We learn a deep soul connection to others that are afflicted in other ways. If we are experiencing poverty, health issues, mental issues, wealth, fame, homelessness, whatever the current situation is, it is a time to learn the lessons, to use our lessons wisely, to learn compassion, to grow and experience in a deep soulful way of being in the world.  The conditions and situations we find ourselves in are always learning opportunities for us and we can always make decisions to make wiser choices in our situation. When the lesson is learned, usually the affliction, hardship or situation we are facing begins to be over.  There is a greater plan to our lives, there is a connection to the divine always that never leaves us. We are not forsaken, even in the most dire of times, there is plan that is being worked out and we are in the arms of the divine. We may feel alone or that there is no one there, we may feel abandoned, but the divine has never left us. In our greatest moments of the most extreme trials, the peace of the divine descends and takes you into the beloved bosom of the divine.

This is why I have been guided to work with soul readings and past life readings. I am working with deeper issues of spirit that go beyond the instant answers one wants from psychic readings. I am working with the spiritual answers on a deeper level where there is a greater plan at work and where there are no easy instant answers to questions that are about just the surface level of human existence.  I leave with this quote from the book “A Course in Miracles”

“What could you not accept, if you but knew that everything that happens, all events, past, present and to come, are gently planned by the One Whose only purpose is your good? Perhaps you misunderstood his plan, for He would never offer pain to you. But your defenses did not let you see His loving blessing shine in every step you ever took. While you made plans for death, He led you gently to eternal life.”

The greater plan can be hard to see the perspective, it can be a mystery at times., but we when we get it, and we always eventually get it, we say a big”Oh, now I get it!”

Blessings to you!

What Is Your Blind Spot? Today's Thought

Posted on January 15, 2010 at 7:39 PM

What Is Your Blind Spot?

Sometimes it may be very hard for us to take advise or listen to counsel from others, particularly if it is in an area of our given expertise or field. It may be hard to open up to other’s view points and perceptions on matters in our life. In these moments when they come up, are perfect moments for the Ego to receive a lesson. Arrogance and letting the Ego get the better of us, can really block the messages that are always being sent to us from the Divine and Spiritual realm. We take a moment to be humble enough to realize that we can always learn something from others. Even those that we think may be lesser than. Less educated, less wealthy, or less in some way that we are perceiving one. This less than concept is all Ego based and is blocking the true perceptions of the valuable soul that may be standing in front of us. Sometimes these very people that we consider less then, like the homeless woman or man in the street, may be the very person used from the spiritual realm to deliver a sacred message to us. How many times have we just walked on by and not pay attention to the “lesser person”?

Messages are always being delivered from the spiritual realm, most times in the most subtle ways. These messages and opportunities present themselves in our lives, but we have to have a state of consciousness that is open to these moments. Many times we are blinded by our preconceived perceptions, our unconscious mode of living our daily hustle and bustle, or our outright arrogance to these spiritual messages. Spirit uses many people to deliver messages to us and they don’t always come in the form that we would expect. The very people we may consider “lesser than” may be the special blessings in disguise, yet we walk on by.

Everyone has equal value in the eyes of the Divine and each and every one of us can take on the role of either Teacher or Pupil in any given situation. In the moment of the holy encounter, the roles may be reversed and hopefully our egos are laid aside to truly participate in the holy instant where miracles can take place and healing occur.

Blessings,

Sheep with Four Eyes

Posted on December 12, 2009 at 5:56 PM

Sheep with Four Eyes

I’m a little sheep with four eyes

I see a little more, a little more I cry

I’m different, standing out from the rest

Each day is a challenge, I’m put to the test

Two Eyes laugh and say, “You don’t see more then us!”

“Stop telling us these things, don’t make such a fuss!”

But I do see more with these eyes

To see the truth has made me wise

I don’t follow the rest of the sheep

I don’t believe their illusions they keep

I’m a little sheep with four eyes

I was born different, I don’t know why

Two Eyes is always telling me I”m wrong

Get my act together, join the throng

They listen to Big Farmer, “This is for your own good!”

Two Eyes says, “Listen to Big Farmer, we should, we should!”

Two Eyes believes Big Farmer tells the truth,”It’s is good, it’s for your health!”

Two Eyes gets sicker, but Big Farmer increases his wealth.

I’m a little sheep with four eyes

I know Big Farmer tells many lies

The Big Farmer’s agenda is hidden in disguise

Ingenious, it is obscured from even the most wise

For it happens months, maybe years from now

Who will make the correlation, connect the dots, yes, how?

The ones who see are these sheep with four eyes

Yes, the very ones that Two eyes despise

So Big Farmer can continue with his great deception

Hailed as a hero even, with a grand reception

By the very ones he plans to consume

Two Eyes only too happy to meet its slaughter soon

Two Eyes says I’m bad, I don’t listen to him in charge

I’m the enemy, the dissident, my rebellion too large

I say “I see what I see, like the one who saw Earth circle the Sun

Called crazy until his theory was proved, his truth won

I’m a little sheep very different for this day

Generations from now, many will see this way

I’m a little sheep with four eyes

Born too soon, but I continue to try

To pave a way of trusting our wisdom from within

To not believe we are creatures of sin

To honor our sight of higher perception

To bless our truth without exception

To be different and have the courage to state what others can’t see

I’m a little sheep with four eyes

You don’t have to agree with me or even try

But, don’t tell me I don’t see what I see

Just because you don’t have eyes like me.

Truth-Today's Thought

Posted on December 8, 2009 at 3:47 PM

The truth could never be attacked. Reality observes the laws of the Divine and not the rules we set. It is the Divine's laws that guarantee your safety. All illusions that we believe about ourselves obey no laws.
